MCP Project — Week 1/52

So, my photographs are typically pretty… blah. I took photography in High School, but for some reason my brain is just not transferring those skills to digital.

One of my goals this year is too get better with my camera and coincidentally The MCP Project 52 signups happened to cross my path.

Here’s the gist:

MCP Project 52 – It’s a way to encourage creativity, make photography fun, and provide a challenge without actual pressure. Participants will [sic] sharing their art work and images weekly while inspiring each other.

The theme of the first week, which I am slightly behind on, was “Around The House” so here’s my go.

I fixed some of the overblown and added a vintage photo filter to it.

I hoping that if I keep fiddling with my camera every week that I’ll get better. Hopefully. icon smile MCP Project Week 1/52

Coin Quilts

Did I mention that I was participating in the 2009 Chinese Coin Quilt Piece-along? It’s being hosted by two of my favorite bloggers: Juliette of Chickpea Sewing Studio and Karin of Orange Flower. Basically, the premise is to complete a Coin Quilt sometime within the year of 2009. That’s it. No deadlines, no requirements or restrictions, no partners, no nothing. How much easier can it get?

Here are some of the wonderful coin quilts that have already been finished. Aren’t these ladies amazingly creative, and on the ball to boot?

The rest of the 2009 Coin Quilt Piece-Along Flickr pool can be found here.

I am to the sandwiching and quilting stage on my coin quilt. I have to clean a spot on the floor long enough to get everything pinned together. See why it takes me so long? It’s like someone somewhere is bound and determined to make me do housework, no matter how much I avoid it. icon biggrin Coin Quilts These sites have been the inspiration for my little quilt.

Coin Quilts 2009

 Coin Quilts 2009

Once you get used to the new look, you may notice a new banner in my sidebar for the Piece-Along Coin Quilt. Yes, I’ve joined another sew-along.

This one is being hosted by Juliette of Chickpea Sewing Studio and Karin of Orange Flower. Both are wonderfully crafty ladies and two of the first crafty blogs I ever subscribed to. They have decided to do a quilt-along, piece-along, sew-along, what-have-you-along based around the Chinese Coins quilt pattern.

I’ve added a couple extremely beautiful examples in the post, but you can find many many more in the 2009 Coin Quilt Piece-Along Flickr Pool. The Moda Bake Shop has a great tutorial designed by the lovely Amandajean of CrazyMomQuilts and MaryQuilts has 3 tutorials, plus many other quilt patterns in her left sidebar.
