MCP Project — Week 1/52

So, my photographs are typically pretty… blah. I took photography in High School, but for some reason my brain is just not transferring those skills to digital.

One of my goals this year is too get better with my camera and coincidentally The MCP Project 52 signups happened to cross my path.

Here’s the gist:

MCP Project 52 – It’s a way to encourage creativity, make photography fun, and provide a challenge without actual pressure. Participants will [sic] sharing their art work and images weekly while inspiring each other.

The theme of the first week, which I am slightly behind on, was “Around The House” so here’s my go.

I fixed some of the overblown and added a vintage photo filter to it.

I hoping that if I keep fiddling with my camera every week that I’ll get better. Hopefully. icon smile MCP Project Week 1/52

If you’d like to join–and we’d love to have you–the information is here. And be sure to stop by the Flickr pool of all the participating photos here. There are some outstanding photos in there!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Today is Mother’s Day in the USA. Other countries have different dates to appreciate mothers.

It’s really all about the ties of family, the strength of love and appreciation for the leaders in our life.

What better way to show you love your mom then by posting old pictures? icon biggrin Happy Mothers Day!

Hence those glasses. No, kidding. They’re lovely Mom. icon biggrin Happy Mothers Day!

Pretty Mama.

And just to prove I haven’t always been goofy looking:

So make sure today that you give your mom a hug, tell her that she means everything to you, and be thankful for what you have.

And that she got rid of those glasses.

KIDDING! <3

Day late but completely fantastic!

40 days ago my madre had a birthday. This is what was waiting for her when she got home from work.

100 1882 495x371 Day late but completely fantastic!

I used the Vintage Pillowcase Lunchbox Tutorial from Oh, Fransson.

100 1883 495x371 Day late but completely fantastic!

While it’s neither vintage nor a pillowcase, I think it’s adorable. So did Mom. Good thing too, because I was finishing up the last step as she walked in the door! icon biggrin Day late but completely fantastic!

The tutorial provides good instructions for using Iron-On Vinyl. While you can’t see it in the picture, the whole bag is essentially water/spill resistant. I had a heck of a time finding Iron-On vinyl. The girls at the JoAnn’s cutting counter had no idea what I was talking about. Thankfully someone knew the store though. Turns it they keep it in the Home Dec department by the nailhead trim and curtain rods and such. $10 for a prepackaged roll that should be enough for 2 lunchbags.

Also included in the tutorial is this cute little placemat. Which is perfect. We all know how ‘Ick’ lunchrooms can be.

Next time, though, I don’t think I’ll cover the handles in vinyl. Or try to source a thicker vinyl. It already is getting a little ragged from light use. Meaning it’s carried back and forth to the car daily and that’s about it.

If you’re thinking about making one be sure to check out the Flickr Group. There are some cute versions there too.

I’d love to hear what you’ve made lately.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful day. I know I am!

My boys got me this:

w2223 large Happy Mothers Day!

Isn’t it cute?

Here’s a Mother’s Day Interview from my 3 year old, Declan:

My Mom

I really love it when my mom puts my clothes on.

My mom likes to wear underwear.

My mom always tells me, “Go to timeout.” (Yikes!)

The best thing she does is feed me breakfast.

It makes her happy when we get on our bikes, go bye bye and have breakfast.

My mom loves to relax by sitting in the chair and talking to me.

I like it when she reads bed time stories.

The best thing she cooks is pancakes.

When my mom shops she likes to buy food and fabric.

My mom’s favorite household chore is ironing.

My mom’s favorite TV show is Spongebob.

If she could go on a trip, she would go to the park.

I love my mom because she is a good, nice mama!

Thanks to Let’s Explore for the wonderful idea!
