Manic Monday for May 19th

If you knew that every minute of the next 24 hours of your life would be recorded on camera is there anything you would change about your habits?

Well, I’d probably stop picking my nose… No just kidding. Maybe. I might try to kinda spice things up since my life is pretty boring and repetitious. Maybe throw together a flambé’ for the kids’ breakfast and wear fishnets? I’d be more concious about how frizzy my hair is. It’s gotten kinda uncontrollable lately. Oh and not so much cussing under my breath. Cameras catch that kinda stuff don’t they?

If you could take a one-month trip to any single destination in the world and money is not a consideration, where would you go?

Wow, I really never planned that far ahead. There’s many single destinations I’d love to go, but for a month? Possibly Dublin or Prague or Madrid — ya know, the bigger places that had a months worth of stuff to do. Or a nice little cottage in the middle of nowhere with green as far as the eye can see and a median temperature of about 70.

What is the best example of “perfection” that you can think of?

Breastmilk and breastfeeding. Seriously. Name me one other substance that is so incredibly powerful that it alone can triple a person’s size, in a healthy way, while nourishing the brain and promoting emotional growth and tactile stimulus.

Who is the black sheep in your family/group?

I think it would probably be me, honestly. You do really stupid things when you’re young without thinking about the effect it has on others. I don’t talk to much of my family now, and when I do I always feel an underlying tension. Maybe that’s all in my head though.

If you were a character from a book, what character would you be?

Hmm… Any book? That’s alot to choose from. For some reason Alice from Alice in Wonderland popped up first — Maybe because I’m lost and confused alot. If I could choose the character, maybe one of the elves from Tolkien’s World?

What’s your favorite accent?

I love just about any accent, except for Spanish ones but I think that’s because I hear it alot here in Arizona. I especially melt over Irish, British and Australian. Canadian accents are very nice too.

Hop on over and join us at Manic Monday!

What’s your favorite thing to spend money on?

The Boys, or craft supplies. It’s so much easier to shop for clothes for people that wear a “normal” size. Shopping for me is a depressing, sweaty experience. I also love to see it when they liked something I picked out, but hey that’s a great feeling. As for craft supplies it’s a double edged sword. I love to shop, so I feel like I’m not totally blowing money, but on the other hand my projects are lowest priority in my house, so sometimes the $100 of fabric I had to have just collects dust.

I also love to shop for décor, but it’s also another low priority to the “décor-ally challenged” boys in my house and the AWESOME vase I found just doesn’t flow with the finger smudges, tape measures and dinosaurs that the boys proudly display.

If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?

It depends on what you mean by retire. If it meant that I no longer had to conform to the demands and schedules set by the kids, then I think I’d travel and try and hone my meager photography skills. There are so many amazing places I’d like to see and experience.

If you mean retire by no longer doing daycare, well, then it would be exactly the same thing tomorrow just one or two less PB&Js to make.

Should anything be censored and if so, what and why?

For adults I don’t see any reason to. Make the decision yourself, don’t let someone else decide what you can and can’t see/hear/experience/etc.

For children, yes. I had my tragus pierced yesterday and during the procedure a comment was made regarding a Deathproof movie poster in the room. I said I had tried to watch it, but when the movie finally picked up (it’s one of those horrid Tarantino movies that are so slow to get started) it was just too hard to try and explain to a 2 year old why the girl wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and promptly had her skull obliterated because of it. There are just some things that a child doesn’t have the… experience(?) to comprehend, though I firmly believe that children are smarter than we are by far.

Manic Monday for March 3, 2008

You find that your best friend has stolen money to pay for medical treatment for a seriously ill relative. What would you do?

Hmm… I guess it depends on how much money it was, who their relative was and what I needed the money for. If they’re starving my kids to help pay for a heart transplant that will likely fail in a 94 year old grandma then I’d raise some serious hell. I also have a very low tolerance for people that steal from family and friends — that’s just super lame.

What three things you regret not learning to do?

I still, hopefully, have a lot of time left in my life to do all the things I still wish to do. I regret that I didn’t learn more things when I was younger because it would have been so much easier then.

I currently regret not learning how to become independently wealthy by 20 though. I also regret not learning how to play guitar, or speak in front of large crowds.

Manic Monday for February 25, 2008

How did you celebrate your last birthday?

We were pretty much broke, so we just hung out and did what we do when we’re broke — watch TV and dream of eating an Outback PrimeRib. {drool} I’ve never been big on doing things for my birthday. It’s so close to Xmas and really, it’s just another day.

What’s the last thing you bought yourself, just for fun?

I found the cutest fabric yesterday at WalFart for a dollar a yard. I had to have it, and knew instantly what I am going to make out of it. Or the “Spank Me, I’m Irish” button I picked up to wear at our St Paddy’s Day Bash. I buy a lot more stuff for the boys “just because” though.

What would the child you once were think of the adult you have become?

Probably that I’m fat and pretty dang boring. I always pictured myself as a tall, slim, beautiful, educated and jetsetting. While I’m no dumby the other 4 I fail horribly at. Spontaneity at 14 was wearing a Burger King crown at 1am and running through the sprinklers of a deserted golf course. Spontaneity at 25 is adding a little Louisiana Hot Sauce to your mashed potatoes. I wouldn’t change my current place in life for anything, but my 25 year old self would have some stern words with my 14 year old self.
