What’s your favorite thing to spend money on?

The Boys, or craft supplies. It’s so much easier to shop for clothes for people that wear a “normal” size. Shopping for me is a depressing, sweaty experience. I also love to see it when they liked something I picked out, but hey that’s a great feeling. As for craft supplies it’s a double edged sword. I love to shop, so I feel like I’m not totally blowing money, but on the other hand my projects are lowest priority in my house, so sometimes the $100 of fabric I had to have just collects dust.

I also love to shop for decor, but it’s also another low priority to the “decor-ally challenged” boys in my house and the AWESOME vase I found just doesn’t flow with the finger smudges, tape measures and dinosaurs that the boys proudly display.

If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?

It depends on what you mean by retire. If it meant that I no longer had to conform to the demands and schedules set by the kids, then I think I’d travel and try and hone my meager photography skills. There are so many amazing places I’d like to see and experience.

If you mean retire by no longer doing daycare, well, then it would be exactly the same thing tomorrow just one or two less PB&Js to make.

Should anything be censored and if so, what and why?

For adults I don’t see any reason to. Make the decision yourself, don’t let someone else decide what you can and can’t see/hear/experience/etc.

For children, yes. I had my tragus pierced yesterday and during the procedure a comment was made regarding a Deathproof movie poster in the room. I said I had tried to watch it, but when the movie finally picked up (it’s one of those horrid Tarantino movies that are so slow to get started) it was just too hard to try and explain to a 2 year old why the girl wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and promptly had her skull obliterated because of it. There are just some things that a child doesn’t have the… experience(?) to comprehend, though I firmly believe that children are smarter than we are by far.

You find that your best friend has stolen money to pay for medical treatment for a seriously ill relative. What would you do?

Hmm… I guess it depends on how much money it was, who their relative was and what I needed the money for. If they’re starving my kids to help pay for a heart transplant that will likely fail in a 94 year old grandma then I’d raise some serious hell. I also have a very low tolerance for people that steal from family and friends - that’s just super lame.

What three things you regret not learning to do?

I still, hopefully, have a lot of time left in my life to do all the things I still wish to do. I regret that I didn’t learn more things when I was younger because it would have been so much easier then.

I currently regret not learning how to become independently wealthy by 20 though. I also regret not learning how to play guitar, or speak in front of large crowds.

Manic Monday

How did you celebrate your last birthday?

We were pretty much broke, so we just hung out and did what we do when we’re broke - watch TV and dream of eating an Outback PrimeRib. {drool} I’ve never been big on doing things for my birthday. It’s so close to Xmas and really, it’s just another day.

What’s the last thing you bought yourself, just for fun?

I found the cutest fabric yesterday at WalFart for a dollar a yard. I had to have it, and knew instantly what I am going to make out of it. Or the “Spank Me, I’m Irish” button I picked up to wear at our St Paddy’s Day Bash. I buy a lot more stuff for the boys “just because” though.

What would the child you once were think of the adult you have become?

Probably that I’m fat and pretty dang boring. I always pictured myself as a tall, slim, beautiful, educated and jetsetting. While I’m no dumby the other 4 I fail horribly at. Spontaneity at 14 was wearing a Burger King crown at 1am and running through the sprinklers of a deserted golf course. Spontaneity at 25 is adding a little Louisiana Hot Sauce to your mashed potatoes. I wouldn’t change my current place in life for anything, but my 25 year old self would have some stern words with my 14 year old self.

Manic Monday
Manic Monday for February 18th.
Manic Monday
What do you order when you eat Chinese food?
I usually stick with something tried and true like Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork or Beef with Broccoli. Absolutely nothing with seafood. I don’t trust seafood in Arizona.
How much have you controlled the course your life has taken?

Well, since I haven’t been on my own for too long I’d say not much. On occasions when I’ve tried to force the course of my life, it has completely backfired and veered 90° from where I ultimately wanted it to go. These days we just take them as they come and try to guide things in a gentle direction.

Whose opinion do you value when deciding how to vote?

Hrm… Opinions don’t matter to me so much as facts do. And who gives me the facts doesn’t matter either. I vote for who/what I think is best, not what someone else thinks.

Hop on over here to join in on the Manic Monday fun!
